Macrophage scavenger receptor 1, a suppressor of HIV infection, is down-regulated in transgender females

چکیده

Abstract Transgender people are at greater risk than cisgender of acquiring HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Globally, the infection is nearly 49 times higher in transgender women populations. Although behavioral psychosocial factors contribute to people, gender-affirming hormone (GAH) (i.e., testosterone for individuals assigned female birth or estrogen/antiandrogen male birth) may alter immune cell functions, resulting increased transmission. We have profiled gene expression PBMCs from females males identified four specific genes (MTND1P23, IGSF10, MSR1, DUXAP9) that were differentially expressed females. Among these genes, macrophage scavenger receptor 1 was down-regulated 0.5- 0.4-fold compared cis males, respectively. Transient MSR1 suppressed vitro infection, suggesting protects cells against HIV. The data indicate down-regulation play a role their risk. Future studies on mechanisms by which MRS1 inhibits offer new strategies prevention women. NIH R21AI55322

CSF - 1 receptor - regulated macrophage proliferation 1 Macrophage Proliferation is Regulated Through CSF - 1 Receptor

Background: Activation loop Y807F or juxtamembrane domain Y559F mutations compromise CSF-1 receptor-mediated macrophage proliferation. Results: Tyr-559 suppresses constitutive proliferative activity of Tyr-807; ligand-induced Tyr559 phosphorylation relieves this inhibition and activates pathways. Conclusion: Tyr-807 drives proliferation. Tyr-559 confers ligand dependence. Significance: How indi...

Nuclear receptor NR4A1 is a tumor suppressor down-regulated in triple-negative breast cancer

The nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily contains hormone-inducible transcription factors that regulate many physiological and pathological processes through regulating gene expression. NR4A1 is an NR family member that still does not have an identified endogenous ligand, and its role in cancer is also currently unclear and controversial. In this study, we aimed to define the expression profiles a...

t-helper cell type-1 transcription factor t-bet is down-regulated in type 1 diabetes

t cells have been identified as key players in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes. however, the exact role of t-cell subpopulations in this pathway is presently unknown. the purpose of this study was to assess the expression pattern of two lineage-specifying transcription factors gata - 3 and t - bet , which are important in t helper type 1 (th1) and th2 cell development , respectively. gene e...

Macrophage scavenger receptor class A: A multifunctional receptor in atherosclerosis.

In atherogenesis, elevated plasma levels of low density lipoprotein (LDL) lead to the chronic presence of LDL in the arterial wall. There, LDL is modified (eg, oxidized), and these modified lipoproteins activate endothelial cells, which attract circulating monocytes. These monocytes enter the vessel wall, differentiate into macrophages, and subject the modified lipoproteins to endocytosis throu...
